Typographical Conventions
This tutorial on programming will follow a number of typographical conventions:
- Ctrl - will be used to indicate a key on the
keyboard. In this case, the control key. In places where there
is more than one character on a key, the relevant character will
be used. If Shift is necessary to produce it,
then use the shift key to produce it - it will be left as
understood in this tutorial.
- cp * /tmp/ - will be used to indicate
commands to type in at the command shell. They are to be typed
in exactly as they are shown. The command prompt will be
omitted from the commands, but will appear on your terminal.
You should type the commands in after the command prompt.
- 8:06pm up 33 min, 1 user, load average: 0.16, 0.13, 0.10 - Will be used to indicate the ouput of commands.
